Daily Champion learnt that the SECRETARY to the Abia State Government (SSG), Dr Nnukwu Ukoha, who was appointed barely six weeks ago, was taken to the UNTH where he was diagnosed of hepatitis. The late Ukoha 54, hailed from Ihechiowa in Arochukwu council area of the state. He was educated at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and later at the University of Lagos where he obtained both MS.C (finance) and MS.C (Economics). He studied for his doctorate degree at the Enugu Campus of UNN, specialising in management.
Dr Ukoha was pioneer managing director of Onwuka High Tech. Limited.
Later, he joined the services of Abia State University as senior lecturer in the department of Economics.
An erudite scholar and social commentator, Ukoha was appointed commissioner for finance in 2004, by ex-governor Orji Uzor Kalu. He was also one of Abia state’s delegates to the National Political Reform Conference. And was finally announced by Gov. Theodore Orji broke the news at yesterday morning during their daily devotion at the executive council chambers of the state government house, Umuahia.
